The fracture of the incisors dental crown is a fairly frequent event in adolescence.

It occurs due to direct trauma of the tooth against a blunt body, due to accidental fall or sports or road trauma. The consequent dental damage determines the loss of the incisal function of the tooth, a pronounced aesthetic imperfection due to the opening of a “black space in the smile“, discomfort due to dentinal hypersensitivity and, in the most serious cases, spontaneous pain due to irreversible inflammation of the dental nerve.

The tooth fracture can be associated with trauma to the lip or to the mucous and gingival tissues of the area affected by the trauma. Therefore the dentist must always investigate the integrity of the supporting alveolar bone, to exclude that a fracture of the alveolar process has occurred.

Clinical case – Dental restoration to repair fractured incisor in pediatric age.

We present a case performed by Dr. Claudio Di Gioia of dental restoration in pediatric age.

In this situation of fracture of the dental crown, it was possible to restore dental function and aesthetics on the same day of the visit, by means of a direct restoration in composite resins with a high aesthetic value.

The images show the excellent result of the intervention as an example.
